Your contribution to animal welfare and our political engagement

What Your Donation Can Do For Animals

25€

For greater visibility

Your contribution helps ensure that, through our wide-ranging campaigns, up to 5,000 people are informed about animal rights, animal policy and the reality of the animal industry – enabling them to also take action themselves.

50€

To exert political influence

Your contribution enables us to hold face-to-face discussions with decision-makers. This allows us to highlight specific shortcomings in animal welfare policy and propose concrete solutions.

100€

For scientific foundations

By giving a donation of 100€, you will help to fund the publication of studies and experts reports, providing a concrete basis for our policy demands in the field of animal welfare.

250€

For organising events

Your donation helps us to organise information events – whether online or in the parliamentary chamber. This enables us to raise awareness among members of the public and political decision-makers about issues relating to animal welfare.

Successes Thanks to Our Supporters

  • In 2023, through our political work, Animal Society played a key role in ensuring that an independent Animal Welfare Commissioner was established at federal level for the very first time. This role marks a historic milestone: bringing the interests of animals directly into political decision making, providing the Federal Government with expert advice, and strengthening the implementation of animal welfare as a national goal enshrined in Germany’s Basic Law.

  • Reporting a violation of the chick culling ban. Following an investigation by Foodwatch, Animal Society filed a formal complaint against an anonymous German hatchery that was sending chicks abroad to be killed — circumventing Germany’s landmark ban on the culling of male chicks.

  • We regularly carry out research into a wide range of animal welfare issues and publish our own surveys, papers and studies – including our representative survey on the public’s views regarding political representation for animals.

Common Questions about Donations

Can I deduct my donation from my taxes?

As Animal Society e.V. is a charitable organisation, you can claim your donations and membership fees back on your tax return.

Will I receive a donation receipt or confirmation?

If you would like a donation receipt, please tick the relevant box on the donation form. We will then send your receipt to you by post (usually in February of the following year). If you are donating by direct bank transfer, please include your postal address and email address in the reference field.

What payment methods are accepted?

You can make a donation to us by credit card, via PayPal, Klarna or by direct bank transfer.

Is it possible to make a larger donation?

For every donation that we receive through our online form, a very small percentage is taken as a fee. For most donations, this fee is negligible, as the benefits of a simple online process offsets the fees. However, for larger donations, the fees may be slightly higher. If you would like to make a larger donation, it is recommended to send it to us by direct bank transfer or via Paypal. If you require a donation receipt, then please include your postal address and, if applicable, email address in the payment reference.
